Hello, My name’s Dominique Felicity Chapman & I’m a Travel and Lifestyle Photographer

Originally from South Africa, I immigrated to Australia as a youngster with my family, and with that igniting my intense love of travel and experiencing new cultures. After left school at 16, and moving  from a small country town to the city, I picked up photography through a need to document my life while searching for a “real” job. I soon fell in love with it and spent a further year saving up for my first DSLR, often working two jobs to save up for it.

Like most young girls, I got swept up in the glamour of fashion photography and interned at several fashion shows and music festivals, before re-discovering my love of documenting and travel through a trip to Thailand. Over time I moved away from the stylised industry of fashion and begun capturing my home life and adventures, and after having my daughter, I gave up fashion photography entirely.

During the years after her birth, I worked towards creating more meaningful, raw images and while converting our 1982′ Hino ex-school Bus, I travelled to several countries in Asia, with my husband and child.  I’m a lover of science and arts, I have gone onto study a Certificate in Travel Writing and Photography, Certificate in Dino 101: Dinosaur Paleobiology (with the University of Alberta) and am currently studying a double bachelor in Art and Science majoring in Anthropology and Environment & sustainability at University of South Queensland.

When I’m not photographing I love to cook yummy vegan food, paint and knit.
Currently based in Perth, Western Australia

  • I showed the landscape image that was in yen magazine to my dad, and he is very keen to know where it is.
I dont have my copy of that Yen issue anymore, so I cant look it up. Can you tell me please?
I think it might have been Western Australia? its scrubby hills with a salt lake in the background?ReplyCancel
